OSCILLATORS

Crystal oscillators (XO)  oscillators where the primary frequency determining element is a quartz crystal. A crystal clock oscillator  is an electronic circuit that uses the mechanical resonance of a physical crystal of piezoelectric material along with an amplifier and feedback to create an electrical signal with a very precise frequency.

Military crystals are quartz crystals that are designed to meet military (mil-spec)specifications and produced to Mil-Spec requirements (QPL).Military crystals are commonly used in applications such as guidance systems, two-way radio communications and gps systems.

CRYSTALS

Crystals (XTAL)- Properly cut and mounted a crystal of quartz becomes a Quartz Timing Crystal, it can be made to bend in an electric field, by applying a voltage to an electrode near or on the crystal. This property is known as piezoelectricity. When the field is removed, quartz will generate an electric field as it returns to its previous shape, this can generate a voltage. Quartz crystal behaves like a circuit composed of an inductor, capacitor and resistor, with a precise resonant frequency.

Quartz crystals are available at standard microprocessor frequencies or custom frequencies, with tight stabilities, in metal or ceramic holders and are available in through hole or surface mount packages.
Monolithic crystal filters: Monolithic crystal filters are available in through hole packages for a wide range of applications.
